FAQ

Got Questions? We've Got Answers.

Everything you need to know before moving day — from booking and pricing to insurance and what to expect when the crew arrives.

How do I get a quote?

Just fill out our free quote form on the Get a Quote page. Tell us about your move — where you're moving from and to, the size of your home or office, and any special items — and we'll get back to you with a transparent, no-obligation estimate within 24 hours.

What areas do you serve?

We provide local moving services throughout the greater metro area and long-distance moving across state lines. Check our Service Areas page for a full list of cities and regions we cover, or reach out directly and we'll confirm availability for your location.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Goat Movers is fully licensed, bonded, and insured. Your belongings are covered from the moment they leave your old place until they arrive safely at your new one. We're happy to provide proof of insurance upon request.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking at least 2–4 weeks ahead for local moves, and 4–8 weeks for long-distance moves. That said, we always do our best to accommodate last-minute requests — give us a call and we'll see what we can do.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, credit/debit cards, and bank transfers. Payment is typically due upon completion of the move. For large or long-distance moves, a deposit may be required to secure your date.

What's your cancellation policy?

We understand plans change. Cancellations made 48 hours or more before your scheduled move are free. Cancellations within 48 hours may be subject to a small fee. Deposits for long-distance moves are fully refundable up to 7 days before the move date.

Do I need to be present on moving day?

Yes, we ask that you or a trusted representative be present at both the origin and destination to direct the crew and answer any questions. This helps everything run smoothly and ensures your items end up exactly where you want them.

What items won't you move?

For safety and legal reasons, we cannot transport hazardous materials (propane tanks, gasoline, paint, chemicals, ammunition, fire extinguishers), perishable food, live plants on long-distance moves, or pets. If you're unsure about a specific item, just ask.

Do you disassemble and reassemble furniture?

Absolutely. Our crew can disassemble beds, tables, desks, and other furniture before the move and reassemble everything at your new place. We bring the tools — you don't need to lift a finger.

What if something gets damaged?

We take every precaution to protect your belongings, but in the rare event something is damaged, our insurance coverage has you covered. Report any issues to the crew lead on moving day or contact us within 48 hours and we'll make it right.

Can you move a piano or other large, heavy items?

Yes — we have the equipment and experience to safely move pianos, safes, large appliances, gym equipment, and other heavy or awkward items. Just let us know ahead of time so we can bring the right gear and crew size.

How long does a typical move take?

A local 1-bedroom apartment move usually takes 3–5 hours. A 3-bedroom house might take 6–10 hours. Long-distance moves depend on distance and volume. When you request a quote, we'll give you a realistic timeline based on your specific situation.
